Good dog.

This little guy is the hero of a chapter book in progress. He needs a look that will allow color to be an important element in his design, so I’m playing with shapes more than usual.

I didn’t have any particular breed in mind when I wrote the character, but his task in the story is to figure out where he is and why, so giving him short legs that force him to be looking up most of the time seems to reinforce that inquisitive vibe.

I settled on sort of a cross between a dachshund and a corgi– which I thought was a new idea, until I googled “dorgi.” Cute alert! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lushl-s35Ek

  1. Cute alert is right — for your “little guy.” Love his head positions and ears!
    Wonderful site Bonnie. Congrats!

  2. Lookin’ good! I loved the dorgi puppies… but then I thought, all puppies are cute — so I went and looked for adult Dorgis – and they’re STILL pretty darn cute! Lovely blog so far, I’ll look forward to seeing more and more here! 🙂
